Bee removal prices depend mainly on where the colony is located and the access required to remove it. The prices below provide a practical guide for common bee removal situations. Final pricing may vary following inspection of the site.

Bee Removal Costs

Easy Access Bee Removal

These are generally straightforward removals where the bees can be reached without major structural access or specialised equipment. Examples include exposed swarms, low-hanging trees, bushes, water meter boxes, pool pump boxes and accessible electrical boxes.

Air Bricks & Small Wall Cavities

Bees entering through an air brick or small opening may have established a colony inside the cavity behind it. Access may require removal of the air brick or opening part of the structure so that the bees and accessible honeycomb can be removed.

Prices start from R1,500.

Single-Storey Roof Bee Removal

Colonies beneath roof tiles, inside eaves or within accessible ceiling spaces usually require more work than an exposed swarm. Roof tiles or other parts of the structure may need to be lifted or opened to reach the colony and honeycomb.

Double-Storey & Elevated Bee Removal

Higher roofs, chimneys and elevated cavities require additional access, equipment and time. The final price depends on the height of the colony and whether it can be safely reached using standard ladder access.

Specialised Access

Where scaffolding, a cherry picker or substantial structural access is required, the job is assessed and quoted separately before the additional work proceeds.

What Affects Bee Removal Pricing?

Location of the Colony

An exposed swarm or colony inside a meter box is usually easier to access than bees established beneath roof tiles or deep inside a wall cavity. The nesting location is therefore one of the biggest factors affecting the final price.

How Established the Colony Is

A colony that has occupied a cavity for some time may contain substantial honeycomb, brood and stored honey. Removing an established colony properly can require considerably more work than collecting a recently arrived swarm.

Height and Access

Ground-level removals generally require less equipment than colonies on double-storey roofs, high trees or elevated sections of buildings. Difficult access may require ladders, scaffolding or a cherry picker.

Structural Access

Some colonies can only be reached by lifting roof tiles, removing an air brick or opening part of a wall, ceiling or other structure. Any repairs required afterwards are normally the responsibility of the property owner unless otherwise agreed.
